Broadnet is Norway’s leading alternative fiber-based datacom provider and the only competitor to the incumbent Telenor with own nation-wide fiber infrastructure. The company operates an extensive network and offers a full range of data communications services across all channels and segments.

Broadnet was formed through the combination of InFiber (formerly Hafslund Fibernett) and Ventelo acquired by EQT V in 2011 and EQT VI in 2012, respectively. Today the company is the leading fiber-based datacom provider in the Norwegian B2B market. It also serves the wholesale market, as well as the B2C market through its brand HomeNet. Broadnet controls one of two nationwide backbone fiber networks in addition to a substantial regional and local network and owns and operates the most granular fiber network in the Greater Oslo metropolitan area. Broadnet offers a wide range of fibercom services such as Internet access, VPN, Ethernet and Dedicated capacity to both end-customers and wholesale clients. The customer base includes some of the largest Norwegian enterprises in addition to other telecom operators and consumers.

Demand for Broadnet’s fibercom products is driven by the underlying growth in the Norwegian economy and the fast-growing need for higher data capacity. The growing bandwidth demand is driven by, amongst others, increasing IT outsourcing and cloud application adoption, as well as expected growth in number of data centers and number of mobile sites with increasing share of fiber connections.
