EQT Infrastructure acquired NORD in 2010.

NORD is the leading specialist within treatment of hazardous waste in Denmark and provides essential services to the society by incinerating hazardous waste and by supplying district heating and electricity to the local district heating network and electricity grid. During EQT Infrastructure’s ownership NORD increased its turnover by over 50% and more than doubled the EBITDA.

In 2015 EQT Infrastructure sold NORD to Ekokem.

Key events during EQT's ownership

  • Increased capacity and reduced treatment costs through implementation of a structured operational excellence program 
  • Transformed the company from a municipally-owned company to a commercialized company with a clear go-to-market strategy
  • Expanded the geographic scope and treatment methods, both via acquisitions and organic growth
  • Consolidated the Danish market for treatment of oil contaminated waste and wastewater
